This happy flubber, also known as “slime”, is my new go to sensory manipulative to keep my kids busy when I am too. It is fun even without the color, but having all these bright fun colors seems to make my kids even more happy about playing with it. We play with it by itself, with playdough toys, and other miscellaneous kitchen gadgets we have around our house. The fun seems to last forever when I pull out the happy gak. I am sure you and your little ones will enjoy it too. Check out the recipe and fun new ways I am storing mine, below.
Ingredients for Happy Flubber AKA Slime:
- Bowl for mixing
- Mixing spoon
- 1 Cup Glue
- 2/3 Cup Part Liquid Starch (be sure to shake the container before pouring)
- Food Coloring
- Mix these 3 ingredients together for about 5-10 minutes until you get that nice slime consistency. I have found it helps to let the ingredients set for a few minutes in between mixing. Once you are done mixing, knead the slime for a bit until it feels and behaves the way you would like. (Yep it’s that easy!)
How To Store It:
I found these fun small glass jars with a hinged lid to store mine in.
Let’s be real, this happy Flubber/slime is messy and little kids need to be watched while playing with it!
The cleanup is simple and it washes out of clothing if it gets stuck. If it gets sticky on your hands and toys just mix in a bit more liquid starch and keep playing. I keep mine handy and store my colorful kit of happy flubber in one of my many handy storage bins. All these bright colors of flubber stored in these cute glass jars would also make an excellent birthday gift or a perfect DIY Easter basket gift like the one I made here.
If your kids find this stuff as amazing and fun as mine did, then I think you’ll have some downtime to yourself.
