This Happy Sand is so simple you’ll wonder why you didn’t make it sooner and your kids will thank you for it! For this sand, I like to make a lot and store it in large mouth canning jars to keep it fresher longer. It also looks fun and keeps it clean.
My kids love this stuff! Seriously, there have been tears before when I have told my kids they couldn’t play with it because we had to leave, eat dinner…… I love it too! It is super fun, incredibly easy to make, very cheap, and easy to clean up. I really wish I’d have made it much sooner than I did.
When we play with the happy sand I usually set it on the kitchen counter and give my kids measuring spoons, measuring cups, playdough toys, spoons, really anything that you can use to shape it or manipulate it. If they are playing with it at the table I just roll out a nice sheet of butcher paper so that they can see the fun colors against the white. This sand spurs my kid’s creativity and imaginations. They love making castles and other fun things out of it.
Now that you are equipped with this easy recipe for your kids you are about to have a lot of fun enjoying sensory fun &/or you just got yourself some free time! You’re welcome!
This recipe also makes a great birthday gift or Easter basket gift! With this one, you can’t go wrong as it is cheap, easy, and really super fun!

Let’s be real:
You are making a sand with food coloring, so keep in mind you will want to be choosy about where your kids play with it. It’s sand, so just like sand at the beach, it will stick to your kid’s arms, hands, and end up on the floor too. So sweep up and clean up before your kids stand up! Wipe up their hands and arms before they wash in the sink. Please note: The color from the sand will come off onto your kid’s hands, just like a stamp at a carnival it too will wash out after a bit. So play with this and have fun, knowing it’s messy fun!!:)
