This year we combined two of my daughter’s current top favorite things and came up with a LEGO Friends Pop Star Birthday!
Every year for my kid’s birthdays I decorate our dining room for them. They pick the theme these days, though I once did it for them when they were tiny tots. Our family celebrates together at breakfast and have a tiny party all our own. I have loved doing this for them every year & they are always excited to see what I’ve created when they wake up in the morning. We celebrate my kid’s birthdays with friends and family all together on a different day. My kids share a birthday month and so we normally have just one party for them both, especially since their birthdays are near Easter. SOooo this has been a great alternative to making each child feel special on their special days!
This year my daughter wanted a theme inspired by her latest favorite thing. She has been recording her own albums, wink, wink, using the iPad application, LEGO Friends Music Maker. This is the true inspiration behind everything in this LEGO Friends Pop Star Birthday! She is way too cute recording herself singing and then picking out the backup singers, drum, guitar, piano…..and putting it all together to make a song. It even has her pick out an album cover with her name and title of her album. It’s pretty fantastic for a little one who loves to sing! We listen to Christian singers and the old classics so she really has no idea about what “pop music” is. She’s just putting together adorable 6-year-old girly music and it’s just too sweet!
Normally I try and create everything all on my own for their Birthday decorations, but this year I found so many amazing downloads, and DIY ideas from some super fantastically talented mom bloggers, that I just had to take advantage of their talent & great ideas! I had a lot of fun getting it all put together.
How I put together a LEGO Friend’s Pop Star Birthday party:
I decided to grab some music theme items and some LEGO Friends themed items. Here is what I found and how it all came together.
I was so happy when I found some fun LEGO Friend’s bingo games and adorable LEGO Friend’s party-favor toppers over at, Artsy Fartsy Mama! She is like, the queen of all the coolest LEGO Friends printables! I was so thankful she had these free printables!! It was so fun to have a game to go along with my daughter’s birthday and I know we will all be playing it a lot more! My daughter loved it!
What brought my daughter’s attention to LEGO Friends Music Maker in the first place was these adorable LEGO Friend’s Birthday Party Toys my daughter got for Christmas this year from her Aunt, Uncle, and cousins. They are absolutely adorable!
Next, I found the coolest Pop Star Party Theme printable/downloads ever over at, Hostess With The Mostess! She has the most amazing party decor printables!! We all had so much fun with these photo booth props and my kid’s both kept my husband and I highly entertained as they pretended to sing with them for quite a while! It was so fun! I even printed off a few extra to decorate other parts of the room as well.
Then I came across a DIY post over at Handmade Charlotte for an electric guitar that I made with some help from my husband! The directions at Handmade Charlotte made making this easy, especially with the printable template provided. This electric guitar DIY was really fun and my kids had a blast playing with them and they’re so happy that they get to keep them! Another reason to love cardboard!
Before I even started with the decorations, I had this idea in my head to make some fun star candy cupcake toppers! After having so much fun doing my rainbow candies with pretzel clouds I just had to try out my star idea too! I was so happy with how these turned out and my daughter just loved these! I think it was everyone’s favorite part to this LEGO Friends Pop Star Birthday theme!
Make Star Cupcake Toppers:
What you need:
- My Star Template
- Candy melts in pink or add food coloring to white
- 2 oz plastic squeeze bottles
- Cake pop sticks
What you do:
- Place star template under wax paper
- Melt candy melts about 1 & 1/2 C. & a tsp. or so of Crisco in the microwave 30 seconds at a time.
- Fill plastic bottles with melted candy melts
- Using the bottle outline the star and then fill in with candy melt
- Before they harden sprinkle on your sprinkles
- Let harden for 10 minutes or so and then slowly peel off the wax paper from the backs
- Lay stars upside down
- Dip the candy sticks into the melted candy melts
- Place the sticks on the back of the stars and add any extra candy melt to hold the sticks on, by using the plastic bottle of candy melt.
For An Added Touch:
For these cupcakes, I used my new Prepworks Decorating Kits to put on the frosting. These fun little squeeze bottles were fun and easy to use.
I really love how it added an extra touch to the cupcakes without having to be an expert with frosting. I think my kids would love using these as well. You can find these cute kits here.
I had so much fun bringing all of these things together for my little girl’s LEGO Friends Pop Star Birthday, and I hope you’ve found some ideas you can use here as well! Have fun!!
